Kiddix Computing, Inc.: Software Development Intern

Summary

Kiddix Computing is looking for dedicated hard-working individuals to fill several open internship positions. Interns hired will work on Linux application development. Projects range from internally developed software to extensions on existing open source software packages.

We expect interns to have experience in software development, especially using C or C++, however we will also treat the internship as a learning experience, and provide guidance when needed. Interns are however expected to take initiative and develop solutions to existing problems on their own.

Interns are expected to work 15-20 hours a week and reside in the Pittsburgh area.

Requirements

Successful candidates must display the following skills:

  • Strong development skills using C or C++
  • Experience in GUI development
  • Experience in Linux development and administration

Successful candidates should also display the following traits:

  • Self motivated
  • Ability to make critical design decisions if a project deviates from the initial plan

In addition, ideal candidates will have one or more of the following skills:

  • Experience with GTK or QT GUI development
  • Experience with Bash shell scripting
  • Experience with PERL or Python development
  • Knowledge of current Linux applications
  • Experience with Gimp and/or Inkscape

Network Appliance: Software Engineer

Join a team of software development professionals to design and implement the user interface and distributed system infrastructure to manage leading edge clustered storage systems. You will use your demonstrated abilities to design and develop object oriented commercial software utilizing the C++ programming language in a Unix environment.

Essential Functions

This individual will participate in the software development of tools and infrastructure to manage a GX clustered storage system. Responsibilities include the analysis, design and implementation of C++ user interfaces and system infrastructure utilizing the simple management framework.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidate will have 3+ years experience in object oriented analysis, design and implementation in C++ and XML.
  • Knowledge of SNMP, SMI-S and other management protocols highly desirable.
  • GUI development using Java/AJAX is highly desirable.
  • In depth knowledge of FreeBSD or Linux operating system.
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills with a variety of tools such as gdb.
  • Excellent teamwork, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Distributed systems analysis, design and implementation highly desirable.
  • Experience in highly scalable systems desired.
  • Unix network programming experience is a plus.

Education

B.S. Computer Science or related field required, M.S. preferred.

Vivísimo seeks a hands-on as well as process-oriented documentation manager in a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, write, and maintain user guides, online help, software administration manuals, tutorials, API reference guides, and training courses.

Experience and Requirements
