Collaborative Fusion, Inc.: Software Engineer (PHP)

Collaborative Fusion, Inc. (CFI) is currently seeking an individual to be part of multidisciplinary software development team. The ideal candidate will have experience with PHP 4.x or 5.x, CSS, XSLT, SOAP/XML, and SQL Databases such as PostgresSQL or MySQL. Candidates must also have strong software testing and Q/A skills and must be well versed in software testing strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, an eye for quality, and ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals (e.g., government executives, program experts, system users, computer programmers, corporate directors, and management). Candidate must also be able to:

  • Develop detailed documentation for activities performed.
  • Work in a team-based group programming environment.
  • Work with business experts, technical staff, and/or vendors to research and resolve significant issues with platform or package software, as well as make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Work independently at a highly technical level through all phases of the software life cycle.
  • Provide telephone and email support to clients.

Candidate must be able to analyze requirements and recommend innovative solutions which meet the needs of a wide range of private sector and government clients. The candidate may also be asked to assist with day-to-day activities for CFI. Occasional travel may be required for client support.

Minimum/General Experience:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum One (1) year of work experience in a professional environment.

JustSystems Evans Research: Research Intern

JustSystems Evans Research, Inc. (JSE) [formerly, Clairvoyance Corporation] is a world leader in the research and development of advanced information management technologies. JSE technology has been incorporated in award-winning knowledge-management systems such as ConceptBase, which has been developed and marketed by Justsystems Corporation (JSE's parent company). ConceptBase products account for more than 50% of the Japanese corporate knowledge-management market.

We have a number of internship positions for the summer and academic year 2007-08 and are currently seeking applications from highly motivated and qualified candidates to work in one of the following areas: text data processing; information extraction, natural language processing; ontology engineering; statistical modeling; and machine learning.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

Candidates for these positions should be energetic and focused and will be expected to be pursuing a Bachelor/Masters/PhD degree in an area such as computer science, natural-language processing, computational linguistics, or information science. Candidates must have good computational skills (we currently use Java, Perl, C/C++, and Delphi) and must either have understanding of and facility in text processing or be willing to develop such ability. Description of Principal Duties: The employee will work as a Systems Designer(programmer / software engineer) in support of the Principal Systems Designer,the Research Team, and the Chief Scientist in the development of new technologies, in the evaluation and extension of existing technologies, in the creation of new intellectual property, and in the building of prototypes. The job will require:

Description of Qualifications:

Duties:

  • Translate strategy and ideas into a blue print for websites and applications. This blue print will be comprised of a set of documents that can include: content outline, content matrix, sitemap, wireframe, user profile, usage scenario, concept diagram, flow diagram, and functional requirements.
  • Develop architectures and interaction methods that contribute to a positive, interesting, and productive user experience.
  • Ensure site content is presented in a coherent, organized, and usable fashion.
  • Work directly with clients to gather requirements and communicate solutions.
  • Assess usability using a variety of techniques including user tests, focus groups, user interviews, and surveys.
